Butchser block table – Whether your butcher block table is totally new and old found hiding in a thrift store, you have to work to keep the table looking great. Tables should be kept clean and greased regularly. If the table has not been properly maintained and is stained, scratched or brittle like, you can recondition your butcher block table and make it looks like new.

Recondition a butcher block tables, Scrape any debris or caked-on food from the table. Clamp a paint scraper or any other metal scraper at a 45 degree angle to the table. Scrape away from you, releasing food and dirt from the table. Place the paper grit 80 for an orbital sander. Move the sander on the table to remove stains and scratches. Start with a higher grain paper if the table is not too scratched or stained. Turn the sander to fine grit sandpaper. Sand the surface again. Continue changing paper and sanding the surface of the table until you have a smooth surface. Run your bare hand on the table. The surface should be smooth and free of bumps or dents.

Combine one part of paraffin with four parts of mineral oil. Work the solution in any cracks in the block. The solution will fill the cracks. Allow the solution to set in the crack in the table. Scrape off excess wax with metal spatula. Clean the board with vinegar to remove all grease and dirt from the surface. Place a small amount of vinegar in a clean cloth. Dip a soft cloth or T – shirt in mineral oil. Rub a layer of mineral oil on the butcher block tables. Wipe off excess oil.
